Government Temporarily Relaxes BIS Compliance for Morpholine and n-Butyl Acrylate

New Delhi, April 2026: The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers notified temporary relaxation of compulsory compliance in accordance with Indian Standards for Morpholine and n-Butyl Acrylate in complete regulatory development. The decision is in charge of ongoing global supply chain disruption which is in line with the aim of confirming uninterrupted availability of such essential industrial chemicals in the Indian market.

Temporary Relief for Morpholine

In accordance with an official notification issued on April 2, 2026 (S.O. 1722(E)) where the government has amended the Morpholine (Quality Control) Order,2020. Compliance in line with the appropriate Indian Standards which has been temporarily suspended as a part of this amendment as a part of this amendment. This exemption will stay effective from April 1 to July 1, 2026.

The government in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) which observes the supply chain difficulties at global level to impact the availability of Morpholine. Authorities want to avoid potential shortages and assist ongoing industrial operation which is based upon these chemicals by relaxing compliance demands.

Exemption Extended to n-Butyl Acrylate

Similar relief has been prolonged to n-Butyl Acrylate in accordance with Quality Control Order, 2021, in separate notification date April 10, 2026 (S.O. 1854 (E)). The temporary release from BIS compliance for this chemical which is applicable from April 10 to July 10, 2026.
This move is expected to offer regulatory flexibility to manufacturers, importers, and other stakeholders which depend on n-Butyl Acrylate as a primary raw material. The government highlights easing compliance during this period to assist to handle supply stability and prevent disruptions over industries.
