BIS Scheme-X Certification

The BIS Scheme-X is a certification program that is initiated by the Bureau of Indian Standards for products under the Omnibus Technical Regulations. This certification comes into play to make sure that all machinery and equipment meet Indian and international safety and quality standards, and are then allowed in the market.

Scheme-X offers certification to manufacturers and importers on the following lines:
License to Use the Standard Mark – Most applicable when the production is continuous.
Certificate of Conformity – Good for single imports, small lots, and prototypes.

This certification is more than just the submission of paperwork. The applicant will need to prepare a technical dossier containing product specifications, safety features, quality control measures, engineering drawings, laboratory test reports, and user manuals, among others. This is followed by a thorough desk review and an inspection upstairs by BIS officials. In the case of an overseas manufacturer, appointing an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) is mandatory.

The process of BIS Scheme-X certification might seem like extra work, but it is important to establish a bond of trust between the consumer and your brand, besides protecting those end-users and, from a legal or safety standpoint, your business.

UMSPCS handles the most tedious part of the work for you, putting the right documentation into place, organizing and coordinating the risk assessments, and finally getting the approvals so you can concentrate on making great products while we make sure they pass through every I.S. compliance requirement.
