Step 3: Factory Inspection & Audit

Step 4: Sample Testing
At the time of factory inspection, the product samples are collected and sealed by the BIS officials.
These are then submitted to the BIS approved testing laboratories for testing and certification to ensure compliance with the applicable Indian Standard.

Once the product is successfully tested and compliance is verified, BIS then gives it a license.
When the product samples meet Indian Standards, BIS gives out a notice for payment of licensing and marking fees. The BIS license is issued after the necessary fees are paid.
The manufacturer is then allowed to manufacture items that carry this ISI Mark and export items to India legally.

Step 6: Indemnity Bond & Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG)ant of License
Some legal procedures also have to be followed before the issuance of final certification.
The Agreement and Indemnity Bond is signed by the Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) behalf of the foreign manufacturer.
